Can I report someone I have seen fly-tipping?   WORKING TOGETHER TO COMBAT FLYTIPPING

Yes, please report it to the call centre on 01206 282700. It is important that we keep our environment clean, so if you see any illegal fly-tipping happening in your area, please help us to stop it from happening.

Before you take action, make sure it’s safe to do so.

Be extremely careful. Some wastes can be hazardous.
Do not open black bags or drums. Piles of soil may be contaminated or they may be hiding dangerous material.

Remember fly-tippers are doing something illegal – they are unlikely to welcome people observing them or taking notes or photographs.

Do I have to make an official statement as part of my report?

It is not essential to provide an official statement when reporting fly-tipping but a statement is very useful when prosecuting you will be given details once you have reported it.

What information do I need to provide?

The vehicle registration or address of the person fly-tipping, exact location of where waste has been fly-tipped and a description of the person and/or vehicle. It is not necessary to provide all of this information but please provide as much detail as possible.
