
Colchester CVS is an independent, charitable organisation whose aim is to promote and support the effectiveness of voluntary and community groups, services and activities in the Colchester area.
They offer funding advice, hold and host events, including training courses and a Community Forum, provide facilities and equipment for hire.
They also run the Colchester Transport and Shopmobility project that enables people with mobility problems to travel to appointments, visit friends, socialise and go to the town centre. Colchester Shopmobility is a town centre based scheme that provides hand propelled and electric wheelchairs and electric scooters to help people with limited mobility - through permanent or temporary disablement, illness, accident or age - to shop and independently enjoy the facilities in the town centre.
Colchester Transport provides door-to door transport for people who are unable to access public transport, whether through disability, age or rural isolation.
They are always looking for volunteers to help with the many services that they run and have several different volunteering opportunities available for people who would like to contribute their time. They fall into the following categories:
